Most woodworkers have constructed some furniture projects as part of their portfolio. At Coventry, we find our teaching experience has placed us very well to work comfortably in all aspects of furniture design, construction and finishing. Over the years, guiding students through aesthetic and functional design decisions, joinery and construction issues and finishing and re-finishing work has provided experience at an accelerated rate that we know you will be able to rely on.
As many of our automotive projects require veneer work we have many species in stock, both domestic and exotic. Karen has worked hard to develop skills in marquetry (the art of making pictures from small pieces of varied coloured wood) and has now completed eight bed headboards and footboards with marquetry panels.

Legs and lower rails, along with top edge are Arbutus. Top panels and rest of piece is Western Maple. The marquetry panels use 19 different varieties of wood arranged from 261 separate pieces. the winter raindrops are made of mother-of-pearl.

LIVE-EDGE ARBUTUS DINING TABLE
This Table was made from two slabs of Arbutus which were 2-1/2” thick 21” wide and 8’ long. The support structure is made of 2-1/2” thick Western Maple.
